Meredith Tennent looks to find whimsy, openness and joy in her paintings. Whether using watercolor or acrylic she focuses on the play of colors and spatial relationships trying to balance the details with the broad strokes. While her work is non-representational, it frequently evokes the sense of the city and water that is San Francisco. Sometimes she draws inspiration from letters or words, frequently the initials of people close to her.
While Meredith painted when she was young and in college, art took a sabbatical while she went to Stanford Business School and worked in business for 25 years. After retiring, she returned to painting, taking classes at UC Berkeley Extension as well as studying with individual instructors. She has been in multiple group shows where she sold a number of works. Website
