Nancy Dempster was born in Chico, California, and grew up in the Bay Area. After high school she migrated from Los Gatos to San Francisco and then to Marin County where she married artist Bill Dempster who inspired her to pursue her own art. She completed her B.A. in Studio Art at Sonoma State University. Dempster’s abstract, colorful, bold, and imaginative works often exuberate dancing like movement. Often bright and strong in color, many have a musical quality. In her other drawings and mixed medium pieces, the viewer may discover inspirations from a love of nature with environmental elements. Emotional responses to life, and the juxtaposition of the natural and manmade world have inspired her. She moved to Sonoma County in 2007, and has followed her heart’s dream of making art ever since.
