Natalie Ora is a self-taught, San Francisco-based abstract painter working in acrylic, using palette knives and her hands to build paintings with complex, tonally nuanced color. She has painted since childhood, and trained in drawing, painting, composition, and color theory at The House of Artists in Kyiv. She has since continued developing her practice through workshops with contemporary painters.
Her practice is rooted in her Ukrainian heritage, including early memories of watching her mother paint in the traditional Petrykivka style. Her work has moved from representational subjects toward abstraction as a way to explore the inner world and human experience more directly.
Natalie’s work is a reminder, to herself as much as anyone, to cherish each moment, not wait to feel ready to start living fully, and to dream big, despite all the limiting beliefs we inherited.
Her paintings have been featured in Bay Area group exhibitions and ArtSpan’s SF Open Studios, and her work is held in private collections across the U.S. and Europe.
