René Rodriguez

René Rodriguez is a San Francisco artist originally from Dallas, Texas. Her interest in art began at a young age where she attended Booker T. Washington Highschool of the Visual and Performing Arts. As a teen she received an honorable mention in the Congressional Art Competition and her work was displayed in the U.S. Capitol. She received a scholarship to attend the San Francisco Art Institute (BFA 1992) where she studied life drawing and painting with instructors Carlos Villa, Julius Hatofsky, & Sam Tchakalian, with a submajor in animation with Lawrence Jordan. She enjoys life drawing and working in traditional media including pastel, watercolor and oils in the genre of portraits and en plein air landscapes in alla prima style
